One Week

As I continue on my tour with the circus, I'm collecting funds for equipment & diggin' at local record shops in each city finding vinyl bargains for as little as 25 cents! 2nd Hand Tunes in Chicago had 25 cent dance 12" singles, so I stocked up on some good old school freestyle & dance tunes.

Back in Cleveland, I stocked up on some hiphop for only 50 cents each at a record store in Cleveland near the Gund Arena, which carries mix CD's consisting of mostly rap music. I already have over 50 records in my collection now. I also plan on getting Final Scratch, so I'll have a large library of jams to start with once I depart the circus for DJing.

Chicago

Maybe I should go to the front of this United Center to take a pic some day. I usually come in from the back. The arena is HUGE, so it's gonna take a good few minutes just to get to this pictured area from the backstage ramp. So I'm still in Chicago. There's Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, Coconuts Music, & a local independent record store every couple blocks near Diversey & Clark, in the vicinity of where my hotel is at. There's also a DJ Sound Gear store around the corner, which I will definitely hit up next week. I'm pretty busy.

If you have any questions about life on the road, don't hesitate to ask.

Oh, yeah. I bought a wireless card for me boithday. That's why you're getting these updates from United Center. $39.99 after rebates. Not bad for free hi-speed internet in a limited WiFi area.

Chi-Town

Chinatown Chicago. Good food. Good atmosphere. Just like home! Haha...

Still in Illinois. I'm typing this at the United Center, where Michael Jordan played. They have a very strong wireless internet antenna, and very fast!

Oh, yeah. If you ever travel and choose a hotel, do NOT choose Days Inn. They're cheap, but the place is trashy.

The "El", Chicago's subway system, runs along the interstate!

Oh, yeah. Wish me a Happy Belated Boithday!

Rosemont

Rosemont's next to the "windy city". There's a subway that goes from downtown to the airport, which I am very close to. I see low flying planes landing on O'Hare Airport pass directly over me!

Chicago's next! Stay tuned...

Cleveland

Cleveland's not too bad so far. There's still some good places in the area like The Galleria & Tower City Center. I liked Denver better, because it had better CD stores like Tower Records & Virgin Megastore, plus I got a favorite deli place called 16th Street Deli. Here, there's just 2 FYE's & a local rap record store called Downtown Records with brand new .50 LP's & $3 mix CD's, which I plan to get later. I'm gonna have a new library of music before I get back to Florida in December! And I'm just starting to add to my record collection so I'll have some music later when I get my turntables.

It smells like sewer water since I'm in downtown & near Lake Erie. Lots of homeless people asking for change. There's no corner I can pass without being asked for money! That's a shame, considering how strong this economy is and how I was lucky to snatch up this job at a circus.

There's a place called Tomaydo Tomahhdo that I randomly encountered trying to find breakfast in the downtown Cleveland area. You can build your own sandwiches. It's pretty delicious. I think I may have found that deli/sandwich place of choice here already. They even have a website. Check it out:

http://www.tomaydotomahhdo.com

I think I'll like Illinois, which I'll be in a week. I already picked up a nice radio station passing by there, which I will probably add to my list of favorites.

The picture below is downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Everything's there, except now it's usually all gray & cloudy, so it looks dark & gloomy. Otherwise, the place is what the picture is.

There's a couple excellent local radio stations here that I would like to mention. They are a "Variety" station, where they have different types of music from almost every genre known to man every few hours. The first one is 91.1fm WRUW, which has archived mp3's of their shows! So you can download some flava from Cleveland from anywhere on the planet! Check out their website and schedules at:

http://www.wruw.org/guide/

The 2nd one is another "Variety" station on 89.3fm. You can listen live at their website:

http://www.wcsb.org/listen.htm

Both radio stations contain EXPLICIT content like HBO! Don't sleep on this!

Denver (Part 2)

Still in Denver. Leaving this Monday to Cleveland, Ohio on Monday. The trip will take about 2 days, so I will get to see some cities on the way. I'll post some things about Cleveland I find interesting.

There's a CD store called Cheapo Discs, which is an independently owned store of mostly cheap used CD's. There's some really good selections that are hard-to-find in there. If you ever stop by Denver, Colorado, make sure to drop in and browse through their store. If you are an active CD shopper like I am, you are likely to find something!

Those that are in Florida gotta know that the "134th Edition", the tour that I'm on, will be coming to Orlando Fairgrounds in December & Miami in January! Check www.ringling.com for the Ringling Bros. circus schedule! (Note: Orlando isn't listed.)

See ya soon!

Denver

Denver's pretty cool. It's almost like New York, except there's no subways & there's less people. Everything's a walk away. There's plenty of taxi's. Ringling Bros. Blue Unit is performing at 2 different arenas here at the Mile High. Notable places of interest would be Tower Records & Sam Goody at Cherry Creek Mall. Also, there's a Virgin Megastore & a D-E-L-licious "16th Street Deli" next to each other only a couple of blocks from my hotel. A free vacation and work package in one! What more could I ask for? I may even become a dedicated circus freak if I'm still enjoying the benefits I have now.

As far as music's concerned, KS 107.5 in Denver plays Old School Rap from 12pm -1pm every weekdays just like 105.5 The Beat Jamz in Ft. Myers do. There's no playlist, but if you are in the area, tune in for some great "Back In The Day" jamz! U 92.1 in Salt Lake City played a DJ mix of some cool midwest jams not heard at other radio stations for hours overnight. It's refreshing to hear something different on the radio these days.

Salt Lake

So the past couple of days were very busy. A circus load of happenings and some other crazy things I've been privy to. I'm leaving to Denver, Colorado tomorrow morning, so I'm going to keep this short so I can get some sleep. We just did a load-out tonight and were there until about midnight. It was exhausting, but I'm making some money here. Plus, I get FREE lodging & travel. I also get at least 1 day off each week, which will just be "travel time", so I pretty much have no day off. But I'm still enjoying the show and learning a bunch of things I wasn't prepared for, but ready to execute. We'll be in Miami early January. Check out www.ringling.com for schedules. Most likely I will stay with them by then. We'll also be in Orlando in December. So a very exciting and interesting packed 2 days it has been. I feel like my life has accelerated 10 times faster than when I was back at home, and 4x faster than when I was at UF. So this "DJ Mo Daily" might get a little personal, but I'll still come with the flava when I have online access. Lord knows when I can update this page, but when I do, it'll be a quality update!

BTW, it DOES look like that in Salt Lake City, Utah! Except the mountains are brownish, because there's no snow here. NICE weather. High in mid 70's & low in mid 40's. Kind of like Florida's winter weather! Sweeeeet!

Departure

This may be the last entry in a while as I am leaving tomorrow for Salt Lake City to join the Ringling Bros. Sure, it sounds funny, but it's a terrific career start, especially with a company of this magnitude. Thanks to those who have made the counter hit over 1700. I will attempt to keep this updated as I tour from city to city. Everything is up in the air until I get final word on my work schedule.

The reality begins.

Meanwhile, here are about 20 CD's I have packed with me. I will be touring for months, and this is my survival CD list. Post up on what CD's YOU would bring if you were gonna be on the road for months.

Circus

You are looking at an Assistant Sound Technician for Feld Entertainment & Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus!

The bad news is that I might not be able to update this website as often. But the other good news is that I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico!

Circuit City

My Honda Civic has been hesitating & shaking when idle, especially when the A/C is on. I did a little research online and found that I may need to simply get my fuel filter changed. Other possibilities were spark plugs, air filters, or the oxygen sensor. I previously had the oxygen sensor problem about a year or 2 ago and had it replaced, so that can't be it. I have over 50,000 miles on my car. Any of you readers know much about cars to help me out and give a second opinion if this fuel filter change is the right diagnosis? It'll be much appreciated!

Meanwhile, Circuit City has a HUGE $9.99 sale on ALL CD's priced from 10.99-13.99! Gainesville has a rinky-dinky row, but the Ocala location is larger and had some nice selections since the population there is dominated by people who are 45+ years old. Good for me! The 35 mile trip was worth it! This sale only comes on Memorial Day and the day after Thanksgiving! If you're reading this on May 31st, get your booty to the nearest Circuit City store NOW to swipe some good deals!
